13 - 'Who Am I?'



At the reunion dinner we projected these ‘My Interests' up on a screen and those present had to guess who the person was that scribed the descriptors. 

It was so much fun that you can play it again here – the answers are in the Appendix Tab.  Please feel free to send more ten pointers about ‘what interests me' if you haven’t already done so and they will be uploaded to this section.

1.       My Interests Are . . .
  • Family gatherings (parents, siblings, children/grandchildren and extended family)
  • Caravanning and holidays (anywhere, anytime)
  • Craft work and sewing
  • Marriage Enrichment - assisting couples to make a “good marriage” a “great marriage” through presenting enrichment programs (involved with Worldwide Marriage Encounter)
  • Catching up with friends
  • Football – Freo Dockers
  • Gardening
  • Reading
  • Athletics (supporting and watching only!)
  • Spending time in country places, enjoying the openness and freshness
 2.       My Interests Are . . .
  • Camping in the outback
  • Bush touring
  • Fishing
  • Dining out
  • Driving around
  • Watching movies
  • Visiting friends
  • Attending shows and field days
  • Catching up on old times
  • Reading daughter’s letters from her European tour
  • Helping and guiding my son
 3.        My Interests Are . . .
  • Enjoying the company of family and close friends 
  • I attempt to play golf on a fairly regular basis (play off a handicap of 14)
  • Love tinkering with timber and have made a few furniture items
  • Enjoying a good red wine (Cab-Merlot)
  • Taking the dog for a walk
  • Love to cook
  • Like the challenge of Sudoku
  • Enjoy caravanning and travelling
  • I cycle a bit, but not as much as I would like
  • Gardening is a bit of a bore/chore but I love the results of seeing flowers bloom and reaping the fruits from a harvest
  • I enjoy taking my wife shopping (surprise)
  • Interests include architecture and creating new designs in housing together with colour co-ordination
 4.        My Interests Are . . .
  • Competed BA while teaching at Bruce Rock and subsequently an MEd and PhD
  • Passionate about Latin, French and Italian and interested in German
  • Spent 1985-86 in Paris on a scholarship and have never really got over it!
  • Celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary in France, especially Arles and Van Gogh
  • Have five grand-children from 10 to 27, all boys and it’s a joy to see them progress through the ages and stages
  • Been selling real estate for 19 years as Sales Manager, Licensee, Branch Manager
  • Moved from Port Headland 36 years ago and settled in Applecross to be near Applecross SHS but have since built a place in Cottesloe
 5.        My Interests Are . . .
  • With my wife I enjoy looking after my four grandchildren
  • Currently breeding from my harness horse
  • Racing Horses and visiting country tracks
  • Going to the Cox Plate, Caulfield and Melbourne Cups
  • Watching the mighty Bombers (Essendon) Football Club
  • Barbeques with my family
  • Enjoying a nice wine
  • Controlling my Diabetes 2
  • Enjoying my friends company
  • Travelling
  • Fishing on the Blackwood River near Augusta
 6.        My Interests Are . . .
  • Footy – Eagles
  • Cricket – Australia
  • Travel – been to South Africa and Bali (of course) but plan a lot more in next 10 years!
  • Music – early days it was the Stones but now Coldplay, Greenday,U2, etc
  • Golf – I hate it most of the time but still turn up for the social side!
  • Boating – but not too much of it as I am easily bored when nothing is happening
  • Politicians – (as opposed to politics) the bluff and way they handle questions is fascinating
  • World events
  • Raising two daughters now 22 and 18
  • Rural matters - from an early farm background and still deal with farmers
 7.        My Interests Are . . .
  • Woodwork – made a queen-sized bunk bed recently... LOTS of fun
  • Painting/ art arrangements/installations
  • Looking after injured birds and re-introducing them back into the wild.
  • Walking through the bush – wildflowers, critters, snakes, etc
  • Some classical music (not Baroque so much) and recently discovered Puccini operas
  • Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings books and movies
  • Esoteric/ metaphysical stuff in the ilk of Gangaji and Eckhart Tolle
  • Movies with Kevin Spacey, Judi Dench, Kenneth Branagh, Ewen McGregor in them
  • Playing Spider Solitaire
  • Looking after 2 lambs till they can go out to the paddock – May & Mertle
  • Getting people together to enjoy each other’s company
  • Creating and fostering a spirit of community which causes people to make a positive difference in their and their community’s lives
  • Looking at good art
  • Things of engineering and building
  • Enjoying my daughter (Briege – 22) and her enjoyment and exploration and adventures in her life
  •  Archery . . . haven’t done it for years – in fact, only did it for 10 weeks during my first 30 years
  • Flying a plane
  • Music of Cold Play, U2, Queen, Muse, and heaps others, but NOT Jazz
  • Watching people who are brilliant dancers – but not modern balle
  • Being at footy when Freo Dockers win
  • Running 100 metres without training
  • Losing weight
  • Watching QI on tele
  • Having successfully fed my dad a WHOLE meal

  • Family and friends fun
  • Travel with hubby – especially Paris (Bastille Day daughter’s birthday)
  • Tour de France
  • Retail with daughter
  • Swan River walks – followed by drinks at Left Bank
  • Keep fit with gorgeous grandies
  • Homewares
  • Concerts
  • Chocolate and champs
  • Great read by the fire and mum’s biccies and coffee
  • Offspring!!

  • Dressmaking
  • Looking at and collecting art
  • Attending ballet performances and musical concerts
  • Living in the Melbourne CBD / Browsing the shops – and buying clothes and shoes
  • Motor bikes – pillion only
  • My consultancy business
  • Being ‘roadie’ for my husband when he is in bands
  • Doing stuff around the house – home-making
  • Pets of all kinds – not that I have any!
  • House renovations at our beach cottage

  • Painting – admiring my husband’s art works

  • Socialising with family, friends and work colleagues
  • Enjoy family time with daughters and grandchildren
  • Travel – visiting great sites around the world
  • Watching sport – especially tennis and football
  • Watching documentaries on TV – general topics and nothing in particular

  • To be able to enjoy family and friends and be enriched just so as I try to enrich
  • To never be denied access to good quality red wine
  • To rejoice in growing plants, either in a wheat field as well as well as the vegetable patch
  • Be able to gain satisfaction from contributing to my community through either Lions or St John Ambulance
  • To not have my love of flying ever diminished – attitude always improves attitude
  •  Maintain my love of animals and always enjoy a new pup
  • To improve the environment in which we live, and leave a good legacy for subsequent generations

 16.    My Interests Are . . .
  • After years of playing footy, cricket, tennis and mens softball I can now combine a passion of cycling and traveling together
  • We plan to cycle the complete length of the Canal Du Midi in France 
  • Also cycle rather than walk the pilgrims way Comina De Santiago from France to Spain 
  •  Last 4 years we have been to France, this year it was the Cannes film Festival and the Monaco Grand prix from our rented villa near Nice 
  • Love catching up with people from days gone bye 
  • Keeping in regular contact with friends . . . working  your own business makes it hard. Best to be an employee
  • Enjoy a beer with mates at the local pub  on a Friday whenever I get the opportunity
  • Go to the footy and cricket on a more regular basis 
  • Enjoy the time when only the 2 of us are home (3 are still at home with us) 
  • Gardening when I retire in 12 months . . . grow some vegies
  • Learn to play lawn bowls when I retire 
  • The grand kids one day 
  • I enjoy  a Bowlers Run Shiraz as much as a Pepperjack Shiraz
