Despite having a noisy and collegiate time at the Club last
night when you had to yell to be heard, we all rocked up to the Hall in dribs
and drabs from 7:30am to be greeted by Kylie Whitehead and Linda Giles doing
the naming and branding exercise.
Greg Rutherford and Val Barrow did a wonderful job of
putting on a marvellous breakfast of pretty much anything we wanted.
And the cleaning up was adeptly handled Ray Wilson and Fred
McGlashan – with a few other helpers.
In amongst the formalities, everyone seemed to be busy
comparing notes and stories. Copies of
the 1960 Bruce Rock Mob prepared in 2014 were a constant source of
reference along with some booklets about schools in the Bruce Rock area - including History of Schools in the Shire of Bruce Rock 1911 - 1988 and Bruce Rock: A Century of Memories. See the bottom of this page for details of these books.
This editor also spotted a copy of the menu for the
weekend. Greg gives the impression he is
making things up as he goes along, but it was all very well planned in his head
at least. It seems the main challenge we
face this weekend is consuming all the food stored in the huge fridge – and a
special thanks to those who brought various dishes. They were all delightful.
